National Walk Your Child to School Day

On October 6, 2010, Conshohocken Catholic Elementary School participated in the National Walk Your Child to School Day. Kohl’s Injury Prevention Program at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, FedEx, the Safe Kids Southeastern Pennsylvania Coalition, and the Montgomery County Health Department sponsored this important event. The purpose of this event is to increase walking and make neighborhoods safer for children walking to and from school. The students started their walk at the Fellowship House at 6th and Harry and ended at the school.

Here are some helpful tips for walking safely with your child:

  • Never allow children under age 10 to cross streets alone.
  • Teach children to look left, right and left again when crossing streets.
  • Always cross at the street corners.
  • Make sure children don’t run into the street or dart from between parked cars.
  • Require children to wear bright colored clothing so they can be seen.
