CCS Reading Olympics
Conshohocken Catholic School
“Fun with Reading”
Conshohocken Catholic School participated in the Reading Olympics which was held at Colonial Middle School on April 20, 2009. The goal of Reading Olympics is to increase the students’ reading for enjoyment. The Olympics are primarily a celebration of reading rather than a contest. Students at CCS from grades 4-6 collaborated with their teammates to read 40 to 50 books that have been selected by a committee of librarians, reading specialists and classroom teachers. These professionals read the books and write questions which teams of students answer during the competition. All participants were awarded ribbons according to the number of correct answers. CCS had 3 teams in the competition, Pagemasters, Bookbusters and Chapter Champions. Each came home a winner! The teams generated much excitement about the event, and the experience was rewarding for everyone involved.
